Police sources said that the investigation into the deepfake video of actress Rashmika Mandanna has come to a halt. Because the US-based technology companies, whose portals were allegedly used to create and share AI-edited/deepfake videos, have not shared the necessary details to take the investigation forward.

After the video was uploaded on social media, the Special Cell of Delhi Police started investigating the case on November 10. In the actual video, instead of Rashmika Mandanna, there is another woman, who is seen entering the lift in a black dress.

The accused had allegedly used AI to replace Mandanna’s face with that of a woman in the video. Letters were written several times to social media giant Meta and tech company GoDaddy to share the details, but they have not shared any details.

A senior police officer said that they have detained a person from Bihar in this deepfake case and confiscated his device. They reportedly found a URL and details of the Instagram reel, which was allegedly used by the suspect to create the deepfake using AI tools.
