Mexico City. At least 18 people have been killed and 33 others injured after a bus plunged off a cliff in western Mexico. Local officials gave this information on Sunday.
This bus carrying tourists overturned in Compostela, Nayarit state of Mexico. Emergency personnel reached the spot immediately after getting information about the accident and started relief and rescue operations. It was told that this bus was going to Guayabitos when it skidded off the road and overturned in a ditch.
The prosecutor’s office in Nayarit state, where the horrific road accident took place, said the tourist bus plunged into a 15-metre-deep gorge on Saturday night on a highway connecting the state capital Tepic and the tourist resort of Puerto Vallarta.
In a statement shared on Twitter, the prosecutor’s office said that ‘from the very first moment, we have worked in a coordinated manner with various federal and state authorities to provide immediate attention to the rescue of the victims.’
Officials told that 11 women and seven men died in this horrific road accident. At least 11 minors have been sent to hospitals for treatment.
