Solan. A major landslide has occurred on the Kalka-Shimla highway in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Here the National Highway about 30 meters has completely sunk. At present, the machinery of the administration is engaged in road restoration.
Solan Police gave information on social media and said that Chandigarh-Kalka-Shimla Highway (NH-05) has been closed due to landslide at Chakki Mor near Parwanoo.Please follow the alternate traffic plan.
The work of removing debris from the highway is going on, which will be informed when the highway opens. Two JCBs have been installed by the administration.To go from Shimla to Chandigarh, Parwanoo can be reached via Dharampur via Kalousi.
But there is a jam on this route too. Traffic has been diverted.Traffic has been diverted to the alternate road Jangshu-Kasauli after the NH is closed due to landslide, but traffic jam is also happening on Jangshu-Kasauli road.
Due to the closure of the highway, there is a crisis on the apple crop. The movement of trucks on the Kasauli road is difficult. The rains in the month of July in Himachal Pradesh have broken records.
Himachal used to receive 255.9 mm of rain from July 1 to 31, but this time it received 437.5 mm of rain. This is 71 percent more than normal.After the year 2010, there has never been so much rain in the state. However, since 1901, this is the seventh record rainfall of 123 years. Sirmaur district has received maximum rainfall of 1097.5 mm.
