Bengaluru: A case of fraud has been registered against two women in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Actually, these women were duping the people of America by using the name, photo and video of Infosys Foundation chairperson and famous writer Sudha Murthy.
A case has been filed against him by Sudha Murthy’s executive assistant Mamta Sanjay. The accused have been identified as Lavanya and Shruti. The police have arrested an accused woman.
According to the complaint filed by Sudha Murthy with the police, she was invited to participate in the 50th anniversary of Kannada Koota (KKNC) of Northern California. But there was a refusal from his office.
But after some time, Sudha Murthy’s team was surprised to see her photos and videos of the program on social media.When the organizer was contacted from Sudha Murthy’s office, the girl named ‘Lavanya’ introduced herself as his personal secretary and said that I have spoken to Sudha Murthy and she is coming to participate in the program.
According to the complaint lodged with the police, both the accused women were calling themselves members of Kannada Kuta of Northern California.
On September 26, both the accused along with Sudha Murthy issued a misleading advertisement on social media among the people about ‘Meet and Greet’ in California.
Also sold tickets to people. However, Lavanya has been arrested from Bengaluru. Whereas, the second woman is accused of selling tickets worth more than Rs 3000.
At present, a case has been registered against both the women under sections 66 (C) and 66 (D) of the Information Technology Act and sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Besides, investigation into the incident has also been started.
