It was requested in the petition that the decision of the Gujarat government to release the gang rape convicts should be quashed. But the appeal is yet to be heard. A bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagaratna fixed the date of final hearing on May 2. But the hearing did not happen.

Justice Joseph told the convicts during the hearing that they do not want this bench to hear the case. The lawyers appearing for the convicts objected to the affidavit of Bilkis Bano. Bilkis had appealed to the court that the notice given to the culprits should be declared as deems service.

On this, the counsel for the convicts said during the hearing that Bilkis falsely claimed in the affidavit that the convicts refused to accept the notice. According to the lawyer, the culprits have not been able to get the notice. Because they were not present in the city.

The lawyer claimed that Bilkis had committed fraud with the court. Also demanded action against Bilkis. After this the bench adjourned the hearing. So that the lawyers of all the convicts can register their objections in the counter affidavit.
