New Delhi. The Supreme Court will hear a batch of petitions on Monday on the gruesome violence case in Manipur. Meanwhile, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region G Kishan Reddy said the Center is ready to hold talks with the conflicting groups in Manipur and resolve their issues.
A Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala will hear a batch of petitions on the situation in Manipur on Monday. The bench will hear three petitions.
These include a BJP MLA’s petition challenging the High Court order on the issue of Scheduled Tribe status to the Meitei community and a PIL by a tribal organization for an SIT probe into the recent violence in Manipur.
After the horrific violence in Manipur, normal life is slowly returning to normal in many districts. There was continuous violence for the last one week. The northeastern state was rocked by caste violence following clashes between Meiteis and tribals over their demand for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe category. This matter has now reached the Supreme Court.
