SC hearing today against the ban imposed on ‘The Kerala Story’ in West Bengal

New Delhi. The release of the film The Kerala Story has been banned in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, against which the filmmakers have filed a petition in the Supreme Court, which will be heard today.

Senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for the filmmakers, will argue the petition before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

On Wednesday, senior advocate Harish Salve, appearing for the filmmaker, mentioned the matter before a bench headed by the CJI. Salve had said that the West Bengal and Tamil Nadu governments have banned the film’s release. The court should hear the matter soon.

On Salve’s plea, the CJI had said that the petition filed against the High Court’s refusal to grant an interim stay is going to be heard on May 15. Why along with that this petition should also be listed for hearing on 15th May.

On the ban on the exhibition of the film ‘The Kerala Story’ in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, Salve requested for an early hearing, saying that the producer is losing daily earnings. Accepting the request, the bench agreed to hear the petition on May 12.

Please tell that the film ‘The Kerala Story’ was released on May 5. After this, the West Bengal government banned the exhibition of the film in the state due to hatred of the film and fear of spoiling the atmosphere. After this, the Tamil Nadu government has also banned the film.
