Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: How were the workers living inside the tunnel? pictures surfaced

New Delhi: Silkyara Tunnel under construction in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand collapsed due to landslide, due to which about 41 laborers got trapped. The rescue operation was started from November 12 to rescue the workers buried under the debris of the tunnel, which lasted for about 17 days and was successful. There were various kinds of obstacles in this rescue operation which lasted for about 400 hours.

But in the end success was achieved in evacuating the workers safely. Along with foreign machines, foreign tunnel experts were also involved in this rescue operation. The workers were living inside the tunnel in very difficult conditions, pictures of which have now come to light.

Food sent by pipe to the workers is also visible in the pictures inside the tunnel. A laborer is seen sleeping there. CM Dhami has announced to give Rs 1 lakh each as compensation to all the laborers. Vishal, a worker who came out after being stuck in a tunnel under construction in Uttarakhand for 16 days, said that he had never given up hope.

All 41 workers trapped in the tunnel were rescued safely on Tuesday evening, the 17th day of the rescue operation conducted on a war footing by various agencies of the central and state governments.After coming out, laborer Vishal, resident of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, talked to his family members who were eagerly waiting outside the tunnel, after which he was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also talked to the workers and praised their courage. As soon as the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand came out on Tuesday night, the countrymen heaved a sigh of relief.
