Bhubaneswar. Three people have been arrested in Odisha for sharing their ‘OTP’ with Pakistani intelligence agencies. The accused were selling OTPs to various customers including some Pakistani intelligence agents and ISI agents operating in Pakistan as well as India.
STF Inspector General JN Pankaj said on Sunday that Pakistani intelligence agencies had used one-time passwords to create fake accounts on social media for the purpose of carrying out anti-India activities.
IG Pankaj told reporters that in exchange for sharing the OTP, the accused were paid money from Pakistani agents based in India. The accused were allegedly in touch with a woman PIO agent who was arrested in Rajasthan last year.
The OTP was also used to create various accounts on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram and to open e-mail accounts.
STF Inspector General said that these social media platforms were used for anti-India activities like espionage, contact with terrorists, radicalization, anti-India propaganda, fueling anti-India sentiments on social media, ‘honey-trapping’ and other anti-social activities used to go.
The arrested accused have been identified as Pathanismant Lenka (35) of Badapandusar in Nayagarh district, ITI teacher Saroj Kumar Nayak (26) of Daspalla area of Nayagarh district and Soumya Patnaik (19) of Sujanpur area of Jajpur district.
IG Pankaj said that 19 mobile phones, pre-activated SIM cards, ATM cards and a laptop have been seized from the accused. The Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court of Bhubaneswar sent the accused to judicial custody for 14 days on Saturday.
