New Delhi: 40 lives trapped under the debris of the collapse of the under-construction Silkyara Tunnel on the Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, are still waiting for a sigh of relief. To save 40 people safely, the boring work was going on at a fast pace, but suddenly after the encounter of the boring machine with another machine, this work has now stopped.
In Uttarkashi, boring work has stopped after 24 meters and experts from Geophysical and Drinking Water Corporation have been called to deal with this problem. In fact, the new and powerful auger machine in the Silkyara tunnel penetrated 24 meters of debris by Friday morning, which increased the hope of the 40 workers trapped inside it for more than five days coming out soon, but only after 24 meters the boring machine stopped.
The work was stopped. According to the information received from the Uttarkashi District Emergency Operation Center in Silkyara, ‘drilling’ had been done to a distance of 24 meters by 6 am in the debris accumulated in the tunnel. There is 45 to 60 meters of debris accumulated in the tunnel in which drilling is to be done.
The plan is that by making a path in the debris through drilling, several large pipes of 800 mm and 900 mm diameter will be inserted one after the other in such a way that an alternative tunnel is formed from one side of the debris to the other and the workers can move through it.
Come out of. Earlier, drilling in the debris was started late on Tuesday night with a small auger machine, but the work had to be stopped midway due to a landslide. Later that auger machine also broke down.
