Uttarkashi.Following the tunnel accident in Uttarkashi, officials from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and a team of experts present at the site have collectively opted for the implementation of five rescue plans, as opposed to a singular approach, to save the 41 individuals trapped within. The ongoing operation to extricate the workers stuck in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi has now extended into its eighth day.
Authorities indicate that in case the direct drilling method proves ineffective, contingency plans involve drilling from the top to the bottom of the tunnel. Additionally, there is optimism among rescue team officials regarding the Border Roads Organization (BRO) completing the construction of a new road to the Silkyara tunnel.
This alternative route would offer an additional means to reach the stranded workers.Officials hope that the rescue operation, which was halted since Friday, can be resumed today. On Friday, international tunnel expert Professor Arnold Dix was contacted to help in the rescue operation. He said that he is currently going to India to help the onsite team.
At present, the drilling work in the tunnel started again on Saturday. Despite this, officials believe that to reach the stranded laborers as soon as possible, instead of working on only one scheme, they should work on five schemes at the same time.
