Cleaning of ‘Shivlinga pond’ started in Gyanvapi campus, work continues under tight security

Varanasi. Cleaning of the so-called ‘Shivling wale pond’ has been started in the Gyanvapi complex located in Varanasi. Cleaning has been started at 9 am, which will last for about four hours. Amidst tight security, District Magistrate S. The cleaning work is being done under the supervision of Rajalingam.

Apart from the Municipal Corporation, a team of officials is also present here.During the commission’s action inside the Gyanvapi complex, a Shivalinga-like stone figure was found in the bathroom. This bathroom is being cleaned. After this figure was found, the entire complex was sealed on the Hindu side’s appeal in the Supreme Court.

Recently, Anjuman Arrangements had given an application to the District Officer. In this, he had told that after the water shed was sealed, the fish inside it were dying, but due to the order of the Supreme Court, cleaning was not being done. Then Vishnu Shankar Jain appealed to the Supreme Court on January 2. After this, the Supreme Court ordered the cleaning to be done under the supervision of the District Magistrate.

After the order of the Supreme Court, it was decided in the meeting that two representatives each from Muslim and Hindu parties would be present inside the sealed bathroom during the cleaning. No party will enter inside the mesh of the hut. Only cleaning workers will enter inside.

The Supreme Court had clearly said in its order that the cleaning of the tank should be done under the supervision of the District Collector of Varanasi.Cleaning of bathroom in Gyanvapi campus has started at 9:00 am. A 26-member team which includes the Hindu and Muslim parties as well as sanitation workers of the Municipal Corporation.

All the members reached outside Gyanvapi at 9:00 in the morning and entered inside by showing their identity cards. The cleaning work will continue for about 4 hours in which along with cleaning the bathroom, the fish will be handed over to the Muslim side. The dead fishes will be disposed of there.
