Suspected IS terrorist caught by Delhi Police, reward of Rs 3 lakh kept

New Delhi. Delhi Police has arrested a suspected terrorist (Shahnawaz) allegedly associated with Islamic State (IS). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) was searching for him for a long time and had announced a reward of Rs 3 lakh on him.

A few days later, he was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police. According to the police, Shahnawaz, an engineer by profession, is originally from Delhi. After escaping from Pune police custody, he was living in Delhi.

At present the police is interrogating him. NIA had recently placed a reward of Rs 3 lakh on three wanted terrorists allegedly associated with ISIS. Apart from Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam alias Shafi Uzzama alias Abdullah, Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali and Abdullah Faiyaz Shaikh were included.

All of them are wanted in the Pune ISIS case. After the Delhi connection of these three absconding terrorists came to light, a search was conducted in Delhi a few days ago, which included Central Delhi, South East Delhi area.

Police said that a huge quantity of liquid chemical was recovered from Shahnawaz’s hideout, which the three were going to use to make IED. According to the police, this terrorist module was preparing to carry out serial terrorist incidents across North India.
