New Delhi. The World Cup 2023 has started with a bang with New Zealand’s resounding victory against defending champion England. Apart from India, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has considered Australia, England and New Zealand as contenders to reach the semi-finals in this prestigious tournament being hosted by India.
Pakistan is not included in the teams that Sachin has selected to enter the semi-finals. Let us tell you, the ICC World Cup cricket started with Sachin taking the trophy to the pitch.
Later speaking to ICC, Sachin said, ‘Carrying the trophy was a good experience in itself. We won the quarter final match of the 2011 World Cup on this very ground. Coming to this ground after 12 years is a great experience.
Recalling the memories of the Indian team becoming champion in the World Cup 2011, he said that the night we won the World Cup was special. The entire country was celebrating along with us.
Till 2011, no host country had won the tournament but now almost every host has done so, so our fingers are crossed about the prospects of the Indian team. Sachin believes that the Indian team can become champion in the World Cup 2023.
Sharing his childhood experience related to cricket, Master Blaster said, ‘In the year 1983, for the first time, I saw the Indian team winning the World Cup on TV. I did not know much about the importance of winning the World Cup at that time.
I was young at that time but the way people were celebrating, I also participated in the celebrations. During the World Cup 1987, I was playing the role of ball bye at Wankhede Stadium.
