New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding the occurrence of dense fog in the north-western region of the country. According to the latest weather bulletin from IMD, dense to very dense fog is expected to persist over northwest India for the next 3-4 days.
Specifically, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are likely to experience very dense fog until December 29.Additionally, the weather department anticipates dense fog conditions in Rajasthan and north-west Madhya Pradesh on the morning of December 29, and in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until the morning of December 31.
In addition to the prevailing dense fog and chilling cold waves, the north-western region of India is expected to experience a spell of rain starting from December 30.
A fresh Western Disturbance is anticipated to influence the weather conditions from December 31, 2023, to January 2, 2024, bringing light scattered rain to regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also forecasted heavy rain in Tamil Nadu on December 30 and 31.
Furthermore, the IMD indicates that, under the influence of a fresh easterly wave, light to moderate rain is likely over South Tamil Nadu and Kerala from December 30 to January 2, 2024.
According to a report from Skymet Weather, dense to very dense fog may persist during the night and morning in various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh for the next two days. Additionally, on Friday, fog is expected to prevail in portions of Odisha, North Rajasthan, North-West Madhya Pradesh, and North-East India.
