2 more deaths in Bengal election violence, Amit Shah may visit the state in August

Kolkata. With the death of two more people in West Bengal on Saturday, the death toll in the ongoing political violence in the state since June 8 has gone up to 52.

Meanwhile, some Trinamool Congress workers allegedly manhandled a BJP polling agent and urinated on his face. The incident took place on Thursday night in Paschim Medinipur district.

TMC allegedly abducted BJP worker Barun Ruidas, assaulted him and urinated on his face when he asked for water, The Indian Express quoted its sources as saying.

However, the Trinamool Congress has denied all the allegations and said that it is part of the opposition’s “well-planned plan to tarnish the image of the ruling party”.

According to Ruidas, who was admitted to a local hospital on Friday, he was taken to a local TMC office by his ‘kidnappers’.

A BJP delegation led by party leader Samit Das reached the hospital on Saturday morning to meet Ruidas. Talking to media persons outside the hospital, Das claimed, “TMC workers demanded money from our polling agent Barun Ruidas, who refused to pay them.

He was then abducted and taken to a party office where he was severely thrashed. When he asked for water, drunken TMC workers urinated on his face. We have filed a police complaint in the matter
