Discussion on Women’s Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha today

New Delhi. The government on Tuesday introduced the historic Nari Shakti Vandan Bill in the Lok Sabha, related to providing one-third reservation to women in the Lower House of Parliament, State Assemblies and Delhi Assembly.

Law and Justice Minister Arjunram Meghwal introduced the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023 amid the noise of the opposition. This is the first bill to be introduced in the new Parliament House.

Now this bill will be discussed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, where Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, Bharti Pawar, Diya Kumari etc. will present their views on behalf of BJP.

Sources gave this information on Tuesday. At the same time, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will start the debate from the Congress side. It is being told that most of the parties can give their women MPs a chance to speak during the discussion.

Discussion on the bill related to women’s reservation will begin in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. It will become a law after being passed by both the Houses of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and getting the approval of the President.

After this law comes into effect, 33 percent seats in the Lok Sabha will be reserved for women and the number of women MPs will increase to 181.

The number of women MPs in the present Lok Sabha is only 82. In this amendment, a provision has been made to implement women’s reservation only for 15 years. But, in future, Parliament can also extend this period.
