Several deaths were reported during Friday’s outbreak of severe weather in Illinois. Due to this, the total number of deaths increased to 21. According to the US National Weather Service, more than 60 tornadoes were reported across the state on Friday and Saturday.
State officials said a “large and destructive tornado” struck Rock and elsewhere in Arkansas Friday afternoon, destroying homes. Latresha Woodruff, a spokeswoman for the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, said four people were killed northeast of Little Rock in Cross County.
Residents of Wayne, a community of 8,000 people, woke up Saturday morning to find the roof of the high school torn off and its windows blown out. Big trees were spread on the ground. Broken walls, windows and roofs are affecting homes and businesses.
