Oregon.A major plane incident occurred in America on Saturday that is sure to give anyone a pause. Media reports indicate that during an Alaska Airlines flight, a window and a section of the plane became detached mid-air, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing in Oregon city.
A passenger onboard shared a photo with a local media outlet, revealing a substantial hole next to the passenger seats inside the plane. However, it remains unclear whether there were any injuries resulting from this incident. Alaska Airlines has stated that they are currently investigating the reasons behind this alarming occurrence.
“The accident occurred shortly after takeoff this evening on Alaska Airlines Flight 1282, which flew from Portland, Oregon, to Ontario, California,” the company said in an email statement to The Associated Press. The plane landed safely back at Portland International Airport with 174 guests and 6 crew members on board.
The company said that more information will be shared once it is received. This flight had departed from Portland at 4:52 pm. But returned just before 5:30 pm. According to data from flight tracking website FlightAware, during the flight the plane rose to a height of 16,000 feet and then started descending.
Local media reported that photographs sent by a passenger showed that a large part of the airplane was missing. The FAA did not immediately respond to an email request for information by the AP.
The Boeing 737-9 MAX rolled off the assembly line and received certification just two months ago. The US National Transportation Safety Board said in a post on X that it was investigating an incident on the flight and would post updates when available.
