Chandigarh. Punjab Police has taken big action against crime and drugs. The Punjab Police conducted raids in all 28 districts of the state and arrested 205 people. During the drive to create a crime-free and drug-free state, 324 hotspot areas were cordoned off and 5781 persons were searched.
Police teams have recovered 2.8 kg of heroin and drug money of Rs 2.20 lakh along with other narcotics during the operation. Apart from this, the police has also arrested 9 fugitive criminals.
During the operation, ADGP and IGP rank officers of Punjab Police Headquarters were deputed in each police district to personally monitor the operation. Thousands of policemen were deployed to carry out the crackdown across the state
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that along with making Punjab a drug-free state, eliminating gangster culture, maintaining law and order and finding criminals are the biggest priorities of the Punjab Police.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla joined the operation along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ropar Range Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Police Captain (SSP) Sandeep Garg at SAS Nagar.
