Former Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang dies of heart attack, breathed his last at the age of 68

Beijing: Former Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang died of a heart attack. Chinese media gave this information on Friday. Li was on a visit to Shanghai. Li suffered a sudden heart attack on Thursday and died in Shanghai on Friday.

Li, a bureaucrat, had voiced support for economic reforms during his tenure. The 68-year-old Li was the second most powerful person in the ruling Chinese Communist Party until his retirement last year.

All efforts were made to revive him but he died at midnight on Friday. Despite having no base of power, Li rose in the party and at one point was even elected to the top role of President.

Let us tell you that Li has also served as the Prime Minister of China from 2013 to 2023. As an economist, he was initially given the reins of China’s economy, but analysts say he was sidelined towards the end of his career as Chinese President Xi Jinping rose to power.
