Dushanbe: According to the National Center for Seismology, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Tajikistan on Wednesday. The earthquake occurred at 2:56 pm (IST), at 37.72 latitude and 72.12 longitude.
The depth of the earthquake was recorded at 95 km. Earlier in May, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in Tajikistan, whose depth was recorded at 50 km. There has been no news of any loss of life or property due to the earthquake.
Earthquake tremors were also felt in Meghalaya of India and the northern region of Bangladesh on Monday evening. Its intensity was measured at 5.4 on the Richter scale.
The National Center for Seismology told that the earthquake occurred at 8.19 pm. It was felt 49 km south-east of Cherrapunji in Meghalaya. The depth of the earthquake was 16 km.
An official of the Regional Center for Seismology said that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Bangladesh, close to Dauki area of Meghalaya’s West Jaintia Hills district. The tremors were felt in all the districts of Meghalaya as well as in some parts of Assam and West Bengal.
