Gorakhpur. In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme, 1500 poor daughters will be married in a grand ceremony organized at Champa Devi Park ground from 10 am on Thursday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present in this event to bless the couples entering married life. According to the Social Welfare Department, about 1500 registrations have been done for the Chief Minister’s mass marriage program to be held on Thursday.
Of these, 68 are of Muslims. 51 thousand rupees will be spent by the government on every marriage. Out of this, 35 thousand rupees will be given in the bank account of the girl going to get married. 10 thousand rupees as gift and the remaining amount is for other expenses.
People’s representatives of the district will be present along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in this ceremony of mass marriage. From the financial year 2017-18, the Yogi government has conducted 4490 marriages only in Gorakhpur district under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme.
Under the mass marriage scheme, the government also gives gifts to the bride and groom.
