Hyderabad: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal meets Telangana counterpart KCR

Hyderabad: Amid controversy over the Centre’s ordinance on control of administrative services in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday met his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad.

The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) national convenor sought the Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s (BRS) support against the Centre’s ordinance, which the party claims bypasses the Supreme Court order.

Kejriwal was accompanied by his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann and AAP MPs Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha. The Chief Minister of Delhi embarked on a nationwide tour on 23 May to seek support from opposition parties against the ordinance.

Earlier, Kejriwal had met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav.

He also informed that he would not be able to attend the NITI Aayog meeting to be held in the national capital on Saturday.

This comes after the central government promulgated an ordinance on May 19 to notify rules for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) with regard to ‘transfer postings, vigilance and other relevant matters’.

The ordinance was brought to amend the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991 and override the Supreme Court’s judgment in the Center Vs Delhi case.
