New Delhi: The cyclonic storm ‘Mocha’ is moving rapidly north-northeastwards. It is very likely to intensify into a very severe cyclone over central Bay of Bengal. The storm is likely to cross Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar and Myanmar’s Kyukpyu. During this the wind speed will be 150 to 175 kmph.

Where will it rain today?

-According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands today and at isolated places during May 13 and 14.

-Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places has been issued for Tripura and Mizoram on May 13 and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on May 14.

-On May 14, heavy rains may occur at many places over Nagaland, Manipur and South Assam.

The wind will blow at high speed

-Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph very likely over Tripura, Mizoram and South Manipur on 14th May.

-Wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph very likely over Andaman Sea.

-Wind speed reaching 65-75 kmph gusting to 90 kmph very likely over Southeast Bay of Bengal. This speed is likely to reach 120 kmph today. However, from May 13, there will be a reduction in the speed.

-Squally wind speed reaching 110-120 kmph gusting to 135 kmph very likely over east central Bay of Bengal. Squally 130-140 kmph gusting to 155 kmph from May 13 morning and 140-150 kmph gusting to 165 kmph from May 13 evening to May 14 morning There is a possibility of strong wind till.

Strong wind speed reaching 110-120 kmph gusting to 130 kmph gusting to 130-145 kmph by evening over west-central Bay of Bengal. Squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph very likely over Northeast Bay of Bengal today. It is likely to reach 100 kmph by the morning of May 13. Squally wind speed reaching 55-65 kmph gusting to 75 kmph very likely over adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal on 13th and 14th May.

The sea condition will be very rough today and tomorrow in the Andaman Sea. The sea condition is also rough in the Bay of Bengal. However, this will improve from May 14. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal.

Landslide alert in Mizoram, Tripura and South Manipur

Landslide warning has been issued in Mizoram, Tripura and South Manipur. Due to heavy rains, cracks have appeared in the unpaved road. Small trees have been uprooted. Banana, papaya and standing crops have been damaged.
