Islamabad: The troubles of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan have not reduced yet. There was relief in the Toshakhana case, not even a few minutes passed that Imran Khan has been arrested again in the cipher case.
Shortly before, the Islamabad High Court had suspended the verdict in the Toshakhana case and ordered his release. Imran Khan has been arrested in the cipher case and has been sent to judicial custody till 30 August.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulkurnain of the Official Secret Act Court has given this order. Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had on Tuesday stayed the conviction and three-year jail term of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana corruption case.
In fact, the division bench of Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri gave this much-awaited verdict. The division bench had on Monday reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of both the parties on Imran’s petition challenging the lower court’s decision in the case.
A sessions court in Islamabad on August 5 sentenced 70-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) chairman Imran Khan to three years in jail in the Toshakhana corruption case.
