New Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case related to Delhi’s alleged liquor scam. The trial court had ordered to send Kejriwal to ED custody. His remand period is ending on Thursday. CM Kejriwal will be presented in Rouse Avenue Court at 2 pm. In such a situation, today is a very important day for CM Kejriwal.
The trial court will decide whether he will come out of ED custody or will remain in custody. On the other hand, after the arrest of Kejriwal, the politics of Delhi as well as the country has heated up. The fight is being fought from the court to the streets.
The ED team had taken Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal into custody after a long interrogation. After this, he was presented in the court and a remand of 10 days was sought. However, the trial court had ordered to send Kejriwal on remand for 6 days. This period is ending on Thursday, so Kejriwal will be presented in the court on March 28 at 2 pm.
Now it will be interesting to see whether ED again demands to send Kejriwal on remand or does not do so. On the other hand, it will also be interesting to see the court’s stance on ED’s demand, because the eyes of the entire country are fixed on this matter.Earlier, on March 27, Arvind Kejriwal’s petition was heard in the Delhi High Court, in which he had called the ED’s arrest illegal and demanded its repeal.
However, Arvind Kejriwal got a big blow from the High Court. The High Court had refused to give relief to Kejriwal. ASG SV Raju appeared on behalf of ED in the court and Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared on behalf of CM Kejriwal. Singhvi had argued strongly on his behalf to declare the ED’s action illegal. However, his arguments were rejected.
