UP News: Rs 106 crore spent from government treasury on Azam Khan’s Jauhar University

Lucknow. Income Tax raids have revealed that IAS officers and engineers, who worked under Azam Khan when he was a cabinet minister, spent the budget of six government departments on the construction of Jauhar University, ignoring the rules.

According to information received from sources, six government departments had released about Rs 106 crore for the construction of the university. After the matter comes to light, ED can also investigate the expenditure of government money.

According to sources, during the recent raid of Income Tax Department on Azam’s house and Jauhar University, the documents recovered by the team have revealed that six departments spent approximately Rs 106 crore of their budget in the construction of the university.

In this, C&DS had released Rs 35 crore 90 lakh, PWD had released Rs 17 crore 16 lakh, Jal Nigam had released Rs 53 crore 56 lakh. Apart from this, Backward Class Welfare Department, District Rural Development Agency and Culture Department also gave money for the construction.

Now ED can investigate whether government money was spent in the construction of Jauhar University against the rules. In fact, after the Income Tax Department received this information, reports have been sought from the concerned departments that under the order, such a huge amount from the government treasury is being spent on a private university. Along with this, considering the case of money laundering, its investigation has now been handed over to ED. It is noteworthy that on September 13, the Income Tax Department had simultaneously raided Azam Khan’s house, Johar University and his close relatives.

In this matter, BJP MLA Akash Saxena said that this is not just a case of money laundering but a big case of corruption. There should be action in this. Besides, action should also be taken against those officials who spent money in the construction of a private university while breaking into the government treasury.
