Nitish government reaches Supreme Court against ban on caste survey in Bihar

New Delhi: The Bihar government has challenged in the Supreme Court the decision of the Patna High Court to ban the caste survey in the state. The Patna High Court had passed an interim order in this matter on May 4 last.

And stopping this process, said that what the Bihar government is calling a caste-based survey, is actually a caste census. Now the Bihar government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, demanding the cancellation of the interim order of the Patna High Court. Key’s.

Let us tell you that the process of caste survey started in Bihar from 7 January 2023. The responsibility of conducting this survey in Bihar has been entrusted to the General Administration Department (GAD) of the government.

After three days of hearing, the Patna High Court had ordered the Bihar government to stop the caste survey process going on in the state with immediate effect and to preserve all the information recorded so far.

The Nitish government says that it is committed to complete the caste-based enumeration. Reacting to the decision of the Patna High Court, Tejashwi Yadav had said that caste-based counting is for the good of the people.

When we have the right information about the social fabric, then it will be easy to make plans. If not today then tomorrow caste census will have to be done by all the states.
