Maharashtra: Slogans raised in support of Aurangzeb at Owaisi’s rally,FIR registered

Mumbai. Slogans of ‘Aurangzeb Amar Rahe’ raised in Owaisi’s rally. Police registered an FIR against unknown persons for raising slogans glorifying Mughal emperor Aurangzeb during the rally.

Giving information on Monday, the officer said that the police took cognizance of the video and audio clip running on social media and registered the case on the basis of the complaint of the policemen present in the rally.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Owaisi addressed a rally in Malkapur city on Saturday evening. The official quoted the FIR as saying that during his speech, some unidentified people raised slogans glorifying Aurangzeb.

He said that audio and video clips being circulated on social media could create communal tension in the area.

He said that keeping in view the past incidents of communal tension, the Buldhana police took serious note of the slogans and registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief claimed on Sunday that the reports of pro-Aurangzeb slogans are false. Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that it will soon be revealed who is raising such slogans and at whose behest.
