New Delhi. The National Center for Seismology said that strong earthquake tremors were felt in the Talaud Islands of Indonesia on Tuesday. The magnitude of the earthquake has been measured at 6.7 on the Richter scale. However, no casualty has been reported yet. These earthquake tremors were felt at a depth of 80 kilometers.
Let us tell you that last week, on Thursday, an earthquake of almost the same intensity was measured in Balai Pungut, Indonesia. The depth of this earthquake was recorded at 221.7 kilometers. In this also, there was no information about any kind of loss of life or property.
Let us tell you that the earth exists in many types of plates i.e. layers. The earth is made of 7 types of plates in which there is constant movement. These plates collide with each other and create friction, which releases huge energy. The energy generated due to friction keeps finding a way out, causing movement on the surface. Due to this disturbance earthquake occurs.
The stronger the collision between these plates, the greater the intensity of the earthquake.Earthquakes always originate from some center beneath the earth. This center is several kilometers below the earth’s surface. However, the energy generated from the center reduces as it reaches the surface, due to which the effect of the earthquake also reduces. Still, if the intensity is 7.0 or more on the Richter scale, then strong tremors are felt within a radius of 40 kilometers from the center.
