Athens. A big news has come out from Greece. Two trains collided head-on in Greece. This incident happened on Tuesday late night. 26 people died and at least 85 were injured in the head-on collision of two trains.
This incident happened near Larissa city of Greece. At least two coaches caught fire due to the collision. As soon as the information was received, the rescue team reached the spot. After this, the passengers trapped in the train were evacuated. The passenger train was heading from Athens to the northern city of Thessaloniki.
According to the information received late on Tuesday night when the train was going towards Thessaloniki, a goods train going from Saloniki to Larissa collided outside Larissa city.Speaking to the media, Governor Konstantinos Agorastos said that ‘the collision was very strong’.
He further informed that the first four coaches of the passenger train were derailed, while the first two coaches were ‘almost completely destroyed’. Agorastos said that about 250 passengers were safely evacuated and sent by bus to Thessaloniki.

Videos related to the incident are being shared on social media. In the video, a badly damaged train is visible due to derailed vehicles, broken windows and smoke. While the rescuers are trying to find the stranded passengers. A young man who was pulled out from a nearby bridge told that ‘there was chaos in the car, people were shouting’.
