Army claims coup in Niger in West Africa, President in custody

Niamey. The army has claimed a coup in the West African country of Niger. The Niger army claimed that they had overthrown the government of President Mohamed Bajoum.

They have imprisoned President Bazoum. At the same time, expressing objection to the intervention of the UN and America, the soldiers have also threatened. According to foreign media, soldiers have announced a coup in Niger by appearing on the national channel.

Colonel Amadou Abdramane came on TV with his fellow soldiers and officers and announced the overthrow of Bajoum’s government. The colonel came live on TV and said that due to deteriorating security system and bad governance in the country, we are abolishing President’s rule.

Niger’s borders are sealed. Now neither one can go out of the country nor can enter the country from outside. There is curfew in the whole country. Government officials have been dismissed. Along with this, all the government institutions of the country have also been suspended.

President Mohamed Bazoum was first detained by members of the Presidential Guard. After this, the coup in Niger was clearly reported.

Disgruntled members of the elite presidential guard on Wednesday blocked all access to the president’s residence and offices in the capital, Niamey, and then refused to release the president when negotiations failed, a presidential source said.
