Rampur. The MP-MLA court on Thursday sentenced jailed Azam Khan to 10 years in the Dungarpur case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 14 lakh. The court had held Azam Khan guilty yesterday.
Azam Khan was accused of forcibly evacuating the Dungarpur colony, assault, vandalism, looting and intimidation. The case dates back to 6 December 2016. A case was registered against Azam Khan in this case in 2019. The case was being heard in the MP-MLA Session Court of Rampur.
The MP MLA Court of Rampur district had convicted former cabinet minister Azam Khan yesterday and reserved the verdict. In the Dungarpur case, MP-MLA Special Court (Session Trial) Judge Dr. Vijay Kumar has pronounced the sentence today. Azam Khan is currently lodged in Sitapur jail.
He was produced through video conference from the jail itself.Government lawyer Shiv Prakash Pandey said, ‘In the case of forcibly evacuating a house and demolishing it, the Special MP-MLA Court of Rampur sentenced SP leader Azam Khan to 10 years of imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 14 lakh.’
