Earthquake in Japan: An earthquake of 6.1 magnitude occurred in Iwate and Aomori provinces of northern Japan on Tuesday (March 2). The epicenter of the earthquake was the northern coastal part of Iwate Prefecture. According to the Japan Meteorological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was the northern coastal part of Iwate province.
At present there is no information about any damage due to this earthquake. The Meteorological Department has not issued any alert regarding tsunami, so people are heaving a sigh of relief. Let us tell you that earlier this year (January 1, 2024), there was an earthquake of 7.5 magnitude.
After this its banks have shifted more than 800 feet. Many islands have risen slightly in the sea. Due to which the sea has gone a little away. There are 7 plates inside the Earth, which keep rotating continuously. The zone where these plates collide is called fault line.
The corners of the plates bend due to repeated collisions. When too much pressure builds up, the plates start breaking and the energy below finds a way out. After the disturbance that occurs during this period, an earthquake occurs. The incidents of earthquake, tsunami and volcanic eruption are highest in Japan.
If we look at the statistics, we find that across the world, 20% of the earthquakes with intensity of 6 or more on the Richter scale occur in this country only. Earthquakes occur here about 2000 times every year. Not only this, Japan is the only country where one or more tsunamis are seen every year.
